This charcoal drawing was created as a part of a cert 2 visual art task, under the theme "Natural Forms". The focus of the task was to choose a close-up image from nature and capture it's detail. I was inspired by a butterfly wing and focused on its patterns, using strong contrast and shading to create depth and highlight the natural shapes. I also chose a butterfly because i associate these delicate creatures with my nan who passed, adding a personal and emotional connection to the work.
